It depends on what you want to do. I was trained on the job to be a vet tech (assistant) but I was never certified. The tech programs are good ones to take, but from my experience you kind of need the hands on to really understand things like what steps it takes to run a urinalysis, how to draw up vaccines or draw blood. The book knowledge is very useful (dont get me wrong) but for me personally doing it as I was learning about it helped a lot. So i would check with your local vet clinics and see if they offer anything like that, or at least see if you can work part time wlaking dogs or something in the clinic so you can see what is going on. Keep taking any classes you can and if you have any questions feel free to email me. Good luck and Happy Holidays.

You can become a vet assistant by on the job training or through school (only the ones recommended by the American Veterinary Association or American Animal Hospital Association though). As a behaviorist though it depends on what field exactly you are interested. An actual animal behaviorist usually is a Veterinarian Specialist or has a masters or doctorate in animal behavior. Although dog trainers and other jobs related to animal behavior are often gained through on the job training or an apprenticeship.
