I'm due this coming wednesday, and I'm a little worried about knowing whether or not i'll know when its real labor or not. I've heard a million things that happen that are early labor, but i know it depends on the person. I was wondering what kind of things you've experienced in early labor, even if you didnt know it was labor at the time. i've heard about back pain, low abdominal pain, pelvic pressure...everything. what was it like for you?

I just had contractions that started coming on. I had contractions for 2 full days at irregular intervals before they finally got to about 5 mins and we went to the hospital. I don't recall any other feelings other than contractions. And contractions (since you've never experienced them) are a feeling of their own. They weren't painful at first, but like a muscle tightening and holding for 30 secs or so. Hard to describe but after the first 3-4 you'll realize that's what it is. Something my sister had both times with her pregnancy was diarrhea the day before. I've heard this is somewhat normal too. Good luck!

The day before my labor started, it felt alot like when I started my period every month. During the night I started having contractions, but they didn't hurt. The next night my contractions were very painful, and closer together. I went to the hospital in the morning and my baby was born that night.

Time the contractions you are having. If they are moving closer together you are probably in real labor. Hospitals usually say to call when you are 5 minutes appart and come in. You may want to call your hospital just to be sure that's the timing they use.

if you are afraid to give birth, it may always be early labour, because your nerves will not let the baby
out into a world you are afraid of
