Pay your bills on time. Offer service in place of Christmas presents (or bake cookies, dip pretzels, etc... and give those as gifts).

If you're late with paying bills, your credit score will go down. And the lower your credit score goes, the harder it is to get any loan when you need one. Or if you did get a loan and had a low credit score, you'd have crappy rates and always have to pay more money than people with good credit scores.

Pay the bills. You can still give Christmas gifts, but not so expensive ones. Christmas is not all about money, despite what the shops would have you believe.

The smart thing to do is pay your bills, so you dont get late payments or sky high interest rates. Tell you family and friends money is tight when you get a little extra you will take them all out to dinner.. Remember Christmas is not about the gifts.

PAY YOUR BILLS! Would you rather give a gift and sleep on the street OR give a card, note, "raincheck" and be out of the rain & snow? It is up to you. But, personally I would pay my bills if it were a matter of choosing between the two.

For the 20 years that I have worked, I always skip paying the non-essential bills in December and then double up with my tax refund in January. If I don't skip it i pay the bare minimum.
