All of the schools in the Big Ten are excellent undergraduate schools. That being said -- Michigan State is probably the lowest ranked of the 11 schools inthe conference (US News ranks it #70 -- which is still quite good).

However, their law school is not as good as the school in general. US News ranks their law school in the fourth tier -- meaning that about 75% of the law schools out there are considered better schools.

Fourth Tier schools usually have lower percentages of students getting jobs right away and lower percentages of students passing the bar on the first attempt. That being said -- Michigan State is a much better undergraduate school than any of the other fourth tier law schools -- so the reputational effect may carry over to the law school.

You may want to ask the school for its employment rates and pass rates on the bar.

I have a friend who graduated from Mich. state law school this past May. Here it is 7 months later and he still has not found a job! He has application in from Detroit to Holland to Traverse City and everywhere in between, yet still nothing! Just face it..... Michigan's economy stinks, you're better off to go out of state.

It sounds like a good school. According to the lsac site, Michigan States has alot of graduates in clerkships and governemtn employment. I would be a little concerned about their low first-time rate of passing the bar, it is a little low. Read up more on their program and stats here: http://officialguide.lsac.org/OFFGUIDE/pdf/aba1168.pdf

MSu is a very good school, don't listen to Michigan fans, they give a great education and it looks great on a resume. However, I find it strange that you would ask such a vital question about your education on Yahoo! answers?
