Depends on the relationship between the parents and the teenager.Usually teenagers don't like to be seen with their parents, especially by their friends, because that in their opinion makes them look like little children.

It depends on how secure the 16 year old is, and what their relationship with their parents are. If they don't get along with their parents, or if they are scared that if they are seen with their parents other kids will think they are losers, then of course they will hate it.
My 16 year old daughter loves to go out with her friends, but she also enjoys going shopping or to a movie with me (her Mom) Last Saturday I took her and my two small grand-daughters (her nieces) to see the Nutcracker ballet and we all had a great time.

When I was 16, it was painful to be the only one going out with my parents. My siblings were already married. No matter how mean it sounds, I felt like a big dork following them around, especially at the mall. I suppose if you have other kids along on the outting, or they can invite their friend, then it won't feel so weird to them.

I did, well with my mom I'm not close with my dad. I'm close with my mom and still go out with her, we'll go shopping to go eat and watch movies together. Especially now, I only have less than a year left to spend my time with them before I leave them and the house, and growing up through my teen years it feels like I took it for granted. I was always worried about some friend that came into my life. I focus now on my mom more than anything now.

Depends on the parent and the child. If the two can agree on something to do, or have things in common i don't see why the child wouldn't want to spend time with the parent.

My parents tried hard to find things we could do together. It's really hard...but can be done.

I know that when I was 16, I hated to be with my parents because they weren't cool and I always wanted to be with my friends and definitely not them. But I grew out of this stage after my teen years and can't wait to spend time with them now.

Mine don't mind shopping with me if I am going to buy them something...no, just kidding...my daughter could live at the mall! My son...I don't think he would mind if we stopped at the video game store so he could check out what's new! And we generally all have the same taste in movies so that is never a problem.

no i have a 15 and 16 year old teens and they hate going anywhere with us. Unless its to dinner. They prefer to go shopping and going to the movies with their friends. Or stay at home and talk on the phone.

Double dating with Mom and Dad, I didn't like it, I doubt most 16 year olds would.
