I have win98 on FAT32 & XP on NTFS..they can see each other.
I went through the create network wizard on the XP computer & during this process I was asked to put in a floppy disk onto which a file was placed. I then had to run this file on the Win 98 computer....The network works fine.

Make sure they are all on the same network name first of all. Then when networking the 98 PC, make sure you create network disk from XP machines to load onto 98 machine. Had the same problem before I got all XP machines. Once you configure network setup disk and load and such, must add machines to firewall trusted area in order for all to work well. Have fun!

make sure they are in the same workgroup. other things to check are if the xp machines are formatted using ntfs, if so then the win98 machine wont be able to see them.

if they are fat32 formatted then check firewalls and shares
