People always say 12 year olds shouldn't like the opposite sex. I have a 12 year old son and I know otherwise. Most 12 year olds are far in Pueberty and are already growing hair and that stuff. Thinking about the opposite sex is hard not to do because there Hormones are raging. Why don't people understand that?

I am not trying to say no one does. I just want to know why some people are like that. And I would never let my kid has sex. Its only dating with a chaperone.

One reason is that it never happened to them so they don't think their off spring are going to be different.
Another is they are still living in the dark ages and have no idea how a boy or girl at 12 feels, if they do not have a good relationship with their children they will never understand and there will always be fights among parents and children.

Its just because there parents didn't let them think about the opposite sex when they were 12 so they think its unfair that this generations 12 year olds should be able to do that. Just wait, 3 moer generations and kids will be going through puberty at the age of 9 or 8

Your just noticing now at 12?
I started around 8-9 with a 10yo, playing doctor. (1948)
No raging hormones, just intense curiosity and a willing partner.
But this is fifty sixty years later and everything has changed in the adult world and the laws.
I still remember some of the playboys philosophy from the 1970's. If your a religious prude your children will see at sometime how foolish OR continue the Puritan view. and we get gays and lezs because they do not understand or how to cope.

I was in kindergarten when I started to like boys!! lol Obviously it was crushes and nothing more, but it's true!! I think kids at younger ages than 12 start to like the opposite sex--and 12 is definitely a perfect age for boys to notice girls. There is nothig wrong with your son. Completely normal!!

Who doesn't understand? Lots of us do! Many of us have BEEN 12. Hahaha. I have taught 6th grade, myself. Liking the opposite sex is fine.Thinking you know everything at 12 is not fine, because it is not true. Grow up slowly the way God intended us to do. Enjoy being 12.

They do it's just that basicly some parents are worried like when it comes to girls liking the guys they don't want their daughter to become pregnate at such a young age. right now Im 13 going on 14 and my parents tell me that all the time so I just listen to what they say its just depends on the type of parent you are whethere or not you care about you child or not but if its a boy child that a whole diffrent story

Probably because most of us, when we grow up, realize that many of the ideas and/or feelings that we had at that age were not entirely accurate, and at the same time we forget how important those thoughts were for us at that moment. Its your job as a parent to guide your son in the way you consider more appropriate.

I think its because when people think of they're kids going thru puberty, they think of it as something teenagers do. They dont understand that from the age of ten, kids are looking at porn and stuff, when their parents don't know. Therefore, they dont understand whats really going on. Dont get me wrong, not every kid does these things.
