So all of those starving, abused children are the same as a child who never was?

It catholics that do not agree with contraception. I'm not a catholic and I agree with birth control within a married couple. If a married couple are not ready for children or have finished having their children birth control is great. We live in an age where people no longer have sex only for procreation.

I think it is not only fine to agree with "birth control", but also smart. I would imagine it would be more important to be able to care and provide for a family than to just allow new lives to enter this world unimpeded. I know there are those out there who don't think Mormons are Christian, and although many believe they just have tons of kids, we are taught to practice smart "family planning." That means you need to be able to provide, meaning you should make sure you are marketable and stable prior to bringing lives into the world. Many may not follow this, and our church is very good about helping those in need, but we are taught to use our brains about it. Women as well as men are encouraged to get an education (although children don't have to wait until both have a degree) and be ready for life ahead. Anyway, I think God would have us be smart, and planning is.

From a christian viewpoint, preventing fertilization is just as bad as mid term abortions of the fetus: both of which aim to destroy and prohibit the process of life.

All sins are the same in god's eyes so it wouldnt be at the bottom of his list as you may believe. He would treat it as equal as murder , etc. This however does not apply to human laws.

If you are Christian, then you can't believe in birth control. The Pope said so.

In regards to the other answer by MyLastDay, how does he know how God thinks. Or that God doesn't have different levels of sin.
