Methanol is not ordinarily used in the US as a street vehicle motor fuel. This is due to its extremely corrosive nature, biologic toxicity and lower heat output than other liquid fuels. Methanol has about 25% (I forgot the actual number) less calories per gram compared to ethanol. As you know ethanol use is anywhere from 10% to 85% as blended with gasoline.
