The other day I passed a bus stop and saw and old woman and a little girl waiting for the bus. The older woman was frantically searching through her pocket book and the little girl was visibly upset. The coincidence is that my own daughter had attended a day school program there. I knew that she would never make it to the party. I asked the woman if I could offer her a ride. Before she could respond, the little girl ran towards my van. When we pulled away, the little girl said "Thank you mister and thank you God for this miracle." 10 minutes of my time brought such joy and happiness to this little girl. At that moment she was the happiest little girl on the planet!

Six months later I received a card with a check for the amount of the fare in it - with a very nice note from the woman. Seems her husband had lost his job months before and this was not a business trip for him, it was an interview for a new job near their family in another state. He'd gotten the job and they had the money to repay me for the ticket, and wanted to thank me and repay the favor. Honestly, I hadn't even thought of it since, but I was so touched by her story and getting the check back. I cashed the check and donated the money to charity in the young mother's name.
