Male, about 60, a great man with many stories, I think he's into nuclear physics research.
I could go to Macy's/Sears and find something ordinary for him and his wife together, but maybe there's a more special way...
My budget for such a present would be $20 (I'm a student, he's a relative but not immediate family).

How about some uranium to experiment on? Or some graphite rods to help control the chain-reactions in the uranium he already has. What about a powerful laser?

Books are usually a good idea. Perhaps something to do with politics/current affairs surrounding nuclear war? In any case, even a large glossy coffee table book on some interesting topic or a book of photography & art will be appreciated by most people and you can probably afford it. Try going to galleries or museums, they usually have interesting and nice gifts.
