if you do.Then..what if the man is un-employed and they still take it?

If the man is unemployed due to no fault of his own the proper route to take would be to request a hearing and explain the situation to the Judge.

If one does not pay and doesn't request a hearing, then I do not think that they should take his/her license, The person should be arrested within 30 days and put on work release until the child support is paid up.

The point is: Easier to pay with a license or default on responsibility and walk to work?

How much of an inconvenience is it for the custodial parent to have to go through DSS, divulging all of their personal information to get not enough to live on? How inconvenienced are the children that can't go on a field trip for school, or get presents for their birthday or Christmas?

There are WAY too many children growing up, doing without the basics because of irresponsible non-custodial parents.

I heard a Republican Candidate here in SC say in the 2004 elections, that "single moms do not need an education, they need a job." I do not agree. Single moms need enforcement of the Judges support order.

If the Judge revokes the right to drive, then I have to believe that the story given them by the guilty party was not good enough to warrant an exception. Good for the Judge. Pay it up and the license will be re-issued.

Bottom line the priority of both parents should be the children. It is sad that so much court time any community money is spent on what should never have been an issue in the first place.

I don't believe the state should take away a mans license for not paying child support. I do however think some form of punishment is required, jail time maybe? ( but should we pay for him to be there ). I'm not sure what the answer is, but I think taking his license only makes it more difficult for him to find a job and keep it. Therefore making the problem worse.

Yes I think they should take his drivers license. No I do not think they should put him in jail that just cost tax payers money. I think they should either work for the state or county and only get pd so much and the rest go for back child support. Why should anyone care about the dead beat dad it is the kids that suffer!!!

My baby's fathe was ordered to pay child support and he kept convienantly losing his job..However I know his lifestyle...and he could not live without a job...so he was working for cash under the table somewhere but my son wasn't getting any of it..Once they threatened to pull his license , all of a sudden he kept a job and I started getting support..AMAZING...So, yes. It takes 2 to tango...I put in over 90% of my son's support and his father didn't think it was his responsiblity to pay the other 10% because it was MY fault I got pregnant..I am all for anything that has to be done..There are taxi's, busses, etc.. don't want to pay child support, keep your pants zipped up

I'm all for state-operated dead beat fathers barracks.

They can work for the state, have just enough money taken out of the paychecks for the upkeep on their cot and their food - and the rest paid to their children.

They won't need a driver's license, because they won't have a car.

Their kids can't EAT - yet these bums need a CAR?

Take the bus.

Yes aboslutely the dead beat should have paid the child support and if he is unemployed it's probably because he is trying to avoid paying child support. If he isn't trying to avoid paying child support why hasn't he paid?

Why hasn't the man been paying child support?

Sorry - absolutely NO sympathy here. If he's unemployed and now has no license, he should have to do community service to earn enough to pay for his child.

No. I'd rather take away half his paycheck to give his kids.

He probably needs to drive to make money to pay child support.

ANS: NO!
There must be a better way for a father to accept responsibility of fatherhood. We must think and find it.
Half of his child was created with his genes, his DNA.

then That's his own fault He should have never abandoned his children or he should have treated his wife better and tried to make marriage right. If he is unemployed then He should try his best to get one.
