This happened to me; I had a "metallic" taste...I thought maybe it was my thyroid, but the doctor had a blood test taken and all was well. I think part of it is hormonal. During pregnancy NOTHING tasted "normal" to me - I couldn't stand chicken, which I normally like. It could take up to a year to get back to "normal" - especially if you're breast feeding. Also, while I was breastfeeding I continued taking the pre-natal vitamins. Having a baby definitely does a job on our bodies, doesn't it??!!! (But it's WORTH IT!!!)

I didn't feel like I was drinking salt water, but the only things I wanted to eat after my son was born was salmon, tomatoes, cheese, and raspberry-chocolate protein bars.
Your hormones are royally screwed up right now and it will take time to get back to normal. It took 6 months before I finally felt pre-pregnancy good again. I guess the only thing you can do is try to make the nutritonal most of the foods that you are eating, drink lots of water, and get as much rest as you can.
Of course, if you're concerned, call your doctor's office.
Good luck!

After I had my son I had a metalic and salty taste in my mouth for a month. The only thing that tasted even partially good to me was plain white rice and milk. I was about 5 weeks post partum when it stopped. Keep taking your prenatals and drink lots of water.

It has not happened to me, as I have not yet given birth yet, but I hear that things like that can happen due to hormonal changes. i would talk to your healthcare provider about it just to make sure that everything is ok and that your hormones are going too crazy. Hope things return to normal again soon!

yeah, this happened to me but it did go away. I noticed it was worse if I allowed myself to go too long with out drinking tons of water. And I mean TONS. In the immediate postpartum period you need to guzzle water like no tomorrow....I promise it will help with so many things. Fatigue, breastfeeding, headaches, skin changes, you name it! Good luck and congrats on your daughter!
