Do you think they would be as highly criticized for their "We're ashamed George Bush is from Texas" comment? I want to know why Kanye West got away with his "George Bush doesn't care about black people" rant. Especially when he said this publically on MTV with millions watching and the Dixie Chicks said it at their private concert. So do you think their career would be over if they were men?

It's a stretch to say that their careers are over. But for years dj's refused to play their songs, their cd's were publically destroyed, they lost a big fan base, their concerts were cancelled, etc. So don't just correct my statement to avoid the question cause I see right through it.

1) The Chicks did it overseas, not in the U.S. Unwritten rule is you keep quiet overseas.

2) They are country - God, America and Apple Pie. They offended their base more than anything.

3) Kanye did it in the U.S., is black, and rap. Rap hates everything - whites, cops, women, police and George Bush.

Simply not apples to apples.

People are always unfair with women, when it comes to a woman speaking out. If a man does it, and people dont agree, well then he is simply an A**hole. But if a woman speaks out, suddenly she becomes every filthy word under the sun, as if she had no right to open her mouth. As if her opinions do not matter. Ive never listened to the Dixie Chicks, but after hearing about this drama, I will say that I didnt find anything wrong with what she said. And she was right for saying it because she felt weird putting on a concert while people were dying in Iraq. The people who should be ashamed of themselves are all the animals who protested the Dixie Chicks, instead of protesting real issues that affect Americans.

Do not care if they are white, black, male or female, if they want to dis the good ole United States of America and the President
Especially when they are representing the USA in other countries, (as did the Shixie *****) then I say throw the bums out with the rest of the trash. Sorry about the spelling it sounded close anyway.

I think the Shixie Dick, man did it again, should have to apologize along with the black dude.

When are we going to have some one with enough Balls to stand up for America, instead of always tearing it down?

The Shixie *****, (Duh! Why do I keep doin that), albums should be taken to the shootin range and used for target practice. Wouldn't use one of the sorry thing for a door stop.

The Dixie Chicks career is far from being over. They just released a new album not too long ago, and it's getting considerable airplay, especially on radio stations that didn't play their genre prior to their 'comment'.
If anything, the 'comment' boosted their career.

Yes It would be just as devastated. Country folks-mainly the ones who buy this of music, and Texans in general, are raised on values that are 100% different. The fallout would have been the very same.

Then they would be the Dixie Dudes, that has a ring to it. Just kidding.

No, I don't think that female has much to do with it. I do think if they weren't Country, or weren't from Texas or the south, it would matter less.

Their career is far from over. I barely heard of them until that incident.

Of course the careers wouldn't be over. For some reason we're still in a world where if a woman has a political opinion she is a *****, and a few other words I won't even try to mention. Besides what ever happened to Freedom of Speech.

If they were men chances are they wouldn't be smart enough to know what a shambles the president is making of our country. Therefore they wouldn't make any statements.
