NO you do not need a computer to get online and play xbox live wit the xbox 360. You do, however, need a connection to the internet which requires a modem of some kind but it does not have to be attached to a computer.
I have my xbox 360 directly connected to my lynksys modem which is directly connected to my phone outlet for a broadband connection -- No computer involved at all

No you dont, just get a ISP and a modem and your good to go, see xbox.com for more details on getting connected.

nope, just a network connection, or a wireless connection (sold for about $30) and a wireless access point.
