first, i would advise you NOT to get a gameboy advance.

getting a [gameboy advance SP] is great though.

make sure it says SP

i don't believe you can buy a gameboy advance NEW, that doesnt' say SP - so you should be fine

if it's used, be warned that the gameboy advance has NO internal light (but the SP does)

as well, the gba(gameboy advance) eats two AA batteries very fast - but the GBA SP has a battery like a cell phone - and comes with an AC adapter/charger

again, as with the DS, i would advise that you only charge when the battery light turns to orange - unless left unused for extended periods of time

A Gameboy Advance requires 2 AA batteries. Usually, if you use rechargable batteries, the life is shorter than with regular batteries. You can also use the batteries that have 2 AA batteries stuck together.

They are size AA...Here is some more info...

What is the average battery life?

The average battery life is approximately 15 hours when playing Game Boy Advance games. This is somewhat less when playing Game Boy Color or Game Boy (original) games. Battery life can also vary depending on the Game Pak being used and the volume setting (louder=less play time).

For players who play a great deal, a Game Boy Advance AC Adapter might be more economical choice. For information about using rechargeable batteries for portable performance, link here.

Fun Fact: The Game Boy Advance's power light will change from green to red when the battery life is at 30% - 20%.

Dear tb,

If you are getting a gameboy advanced sp than it has it's own rechrageable lithium ion battery which typically requires about 3 hours to charge.

However, if it's the previous edition of gameboy those require AA batteries.

Hope that helps. Kindly,

Nickster

GameBoy Advanced is like a 'tablet'. Screen, buttons, etc. are all on same surface (except for the 'shoulder buttons' on top.) GBA is not backlit. GameBoy Advanced SP is like a clamshell phone. Buttons are on the lower surface, and the screen flips up. GBA SP is backlit. GBA Micro is a pretty small version of the original GBA, and it is backlit.
