Minimum wage is something that should be left up to states to regulate as they can better assess what industries their respective economies are made up of and how raising or lowering it would affect their individual economy. It is not bad all the times. There are moments when minimum wage must keep up with the price of living. What we need to do is cut government spending on unnecessary things, put the government on a viable budget so that minimum wage increases do not negatively affect the economy. One thing I can do is bet that you've never had to live on minimum wage.

Really, can you make your own car parts to? Many small factories supply the auto industry with their parts, made by minimum wage workers. The parts are shipped to the big companies and then put together by the "higher paid workers" but they didn't make them.
considering fast food, well during school breaks, what are you saying.... kids aren't supposed to make any money, or lets think about all the people out there with lack of education for one reason or another, some people have circumstances that they fell victim to not chose. They may have children to support, I guess what you may be saying there is they should just rather crawl off somewhere and die, or lets see would you rather they depend on the welfare system and not do anything at all?? While were at it, we should close all the grocery stores, your so talented you can raise your own farm, so why would you need to shop for groceries, it must be hard for you to be around all those workers in the grocery stores that you consider to be beneath you.
Hey... let's not stop there, we can also close out all those retail stores that sell clothing or footwear, your able to multi-task and can make your own there too. Why have people stand at the register and ring you up?
Not only that how many times, QUEEN, have you asked someone in a store where something is, I wonder if they realize that you think of them as un-necessary? I guess they should have just figured that you were too lazy to find it on your own or too stupid.
I've never been so lazy to keep me from cleaning my own toilet, but if that's the case with some "people" then why not pay someone to take care it for you and if someone is to lazy to clean a toilet of their own,,,, what kind of job do you have, awful leinient boss I would imagine.
I understand why your so lazy that you don't want to clean your own toilet, you're one of them "people" who think others should take your sh*t!

And what about the people who picked the food, cleaned it, brought it to the market, and bagged it, so that you could cook it yourself? What about the house you live in? Who do you think help built it?
These people all earned minimum wage.
Unless you will in a cave in the woods and survive eating nuts, you probably benefited at some point from someone working at minimum wage.
And just because they earn minimum wage, doesn't mean they aren't entitled to certain basic rights - decent working conditions, lack of harassment, cost of living adjustments, etc.
If YOUR paycheck suddenly got cut to minimum wage, I'd like to see you 1) survive, and 2) happily waive your rights to anything else.

I don't know what you pay your housekeeper, but mine definitely makes better than minimum wage. (And no I do not have her because I am lazy, I have because I prefer to use the time I am not working to spend with my family not schlepping a mop!).
There are numerous valid minimum wage jobs that are necessary, and they need to be filled. I believe that what you work for is a choice. I have chosen to my path, and other people have chosen theres. Does not make either or us any better than the other.

Ironically most companies pay higher than minimum wage. Even McDonald's pays an average of $7/hr. It's the mom and pop stores that suffer.

people who make minimum wage do so because that's all they are worth. for whatever reason, they squandered their 12 years of free public school education and couldn't make anything of themself and have to resort to making minimum wage.
on the flip side there is no need for a minimum wage -- the market dictates what a job is worth. if frying french fries is only worth $5.75 in Hog Snout, Arkansas then that's what it is -- its probably the only job in that town. but if frying those same french fries is worth $12.00 an hour in the middle of Chicago then that's what it is -- because that's what the store owners need to pay someone to responsibly do that job.
