Anyone out there have no family they know, and if so what do you do or with whom do you spend holidays with?

First off, don't feel sorry for me, I am blessed and doing ok in life....but I am an only child who has no family members since a year ago, so not new to being alone but to knowing no one other than my weenier dog, whom I am grateful, very very to have. I know I ought to go volunteer for some good cause during the holidays but don't feel I'd be of any help and would probably end up balling my eyes out if I encountered anything remotely sad or emotionally touching. My ex-boyfriend died in August unexoectedly, and I'm at a loss.....literally , as I always had him to fall back on. Is there some group or place people without families go other thn church? If you are without family or any close friends, and not a social butterfly, whats the thing to do?

I have no family, and even though you take care of yourself and you know how great it is to be here with what you have. It still sucks to be alone. Trust me after most of my life of being alone, it makes you not open up as much and trust people. Its not that we do it on purpose we just have no one to turn to if something happens. It makes it hard on relationships as well. But it sucks to be alone! And i hope no one should have to go through it. the thing to do is to communicate with people that understand you better and no what your going through. Makes us appreaciate what we have more.

If I were you I would spend the holidays with very close friends. Friends can become apart of your family. This year I have decided to make chirstmas a day for my friends who have no where to go.

I've alway's treated it like any other day. I just stay home and go on the computer and do my own thing. There is no group or place for people to go who don't have family's. I just stay home and clean house.
