No u should never want to give an abortion because the child is going to be mentally retarded. A Mentally challenge child should be loved and cared. Hope this helps and please dont give an abortion because u will regret it if u do. Normal Child or not it will have a normal life.

I don't think I would be able to have an abortion....There are always miracles possible, and even if my child was mentally retarded I would love him/her no matter what....I am a teacher and some of the happiest kids I have seen are those in special education. There was one child I worked with that never had a bad day and always a smile on her face.......I would never abort having a child that may be that way.....

How horrible !!! I can't believe most of you would abort. That's awful. If god sends you and mentally disabled child its probably for a reason. I would never abort a child. God made women to create not to destroy. Its not the childs fault for being the way it is. For the people who say that its too expensive to take care of a mentally/physically disabled child that's not true. My sister was born with Rett syndrome and its not expensive at all. I can't believe that there is horrible people that would destroy a life just because they were born a little different than us. You should be thankful that you can have children, some women would kill just to have a baby whether normal or with disabilities. You should be ashamed.

First of all there is no 100% test to know that your baby will be born mentally retarded. So I could not live with myself to abort and your baby be totally healthy. Secondly abortions are very painful for the baby, check out abort73.com for more info. But pretty much they rip your baby limb by limb to get it out while the baby is alive and feeling pain! Even if I knew my child was going to die after birth I would want to give him or her a comfortable home in my womb until God made the decision to take that life not me.

i wouldn't even take that test that they do to determine that in the first place.

1. because if that's the child i was meant to have -- then so be it (mentally retarded children and adults live full and happy lives -- ask anyone who has someone like that in their family. yes its a struggle but they give back so much)

2. that test that they do is not ACCURATE there are many documented cases where the test was done, came back positive and the parents had a healthy baby -- could have aborted a healthy baby over an inaccurate test -- how HORRIBLE!!!

3. i personally wouldn't have an abortion

No chance! I work with people with disabilities - They are wonderful people & have touched my life in so many ways. I think it is ignorant to think people with disabilities don't deserve a chance at life. Children will always be a struggle to raise no matter what & you will find that you will also love them no matter what. I appreciate my life so much more after working with these people. Not because my life is better than theirs, but because I watch them truly appreciate things we take for granted. I am 26 & expecting my first child, if I received news that my child would be born retarded, I know it would be challenging but I would have faith that the rewards would be great & I would be brave & take my chances with my child. I mean, it's my child, how bad could it really be ; )

I will never have an abortion for any reason, abortion is just a legal way to murder someone. whern someone is pregnant with a mentally challenge kid is for a reason and that reason is because god wanted it to be that way. someone who haves a son or doughter born this way will always be bless and the good thing for that child will be that he will not have to worry about the problems that we have in this world wich is going down the drain.

who ever commits an abortion is because that person is empty inside and dont have feelings and if she is capable of doing that to her son or doughter what can others expect from her..

I just think that who ever god sends, you got to accept and if you if are not capable dont have sex in the first place

Of course not. A mentally retarded (or otherwise handicapped person--whether mentally or physically) deserves just as much chance at life as a "normal" person. Besides, medicine is not an exact science--the "experts" could be wrong and you could end up having a perfectly normal, healthy baby. If I were to have an abortion because they told me my baby was going to be retarded, I'd spend the rest of my life wondering, "What if..."

I would never abort a child...no matter how tough I knew it was going to be. A life is a life. Who am I to say that the child would be better off being aborted? Why should I not even give him/her a chance?

Yes, if the condition is really severe...i wouldnt want my child going through life like that. However if it was a mild case I would probably have the baby.

stargazingeyes shut up, what u said does not apply to everyone, stop tryna look good and get a best answer. I meant what i said, and i do NOT have a problem with self image or my self esteem.
