I have been married nearly 18 years. The very best solution to your problem is open, honest communication. The hard part is realizing that men and women communicate differently. Remember, you need to attack the problem, not the person. The other difficult thing is taking the word "you" out of the conversation. The word "you" is accusative, and immediately puts the other person on the defense, and it is the first step to an argument. Once you have communicated your feelings without attacking, the two of you are going to have to come up with a compromise. A good marriage is based on two very important components, each mate being willing to give 100% (not expecting anything in return) and both being good forgivers. We also need to realize that the only person we can control is ourself. We cannot change our mate. Now with that said, I personally would begin by approaching my mate with a compliment. For example, "Honey, I really appreciate what a generous person you are, always wanting to help your friends, that is one of the things I love most about you. However, I am missing our time together, I'm feeling a little neglected. Can we figure out a compromise. I need at least one night (or whatever seems fair) that is devoted totally to me,"
I am going to provide you with a link to some articles that discuss how to strengthen your marriage. It takes time and effort, it is not easy, but it is worth it!!
