New musicals - Spamalot (essentially the same as Monty Python and the Holy Grail, very funny) - 7
Wicked (the tale of the misunderstood Wicked Witch of the West from the Wizard of Oz) - 8
Avenue Q (described as sesame street on acid - VERY funny) - 10.
Films of stage musicals - Jerry Springer (Jerry Springer dies and has to sort out a dispute between God and the Devil. Hated by Bible Belt Christians everywhere, but funny for everyone else) - 9,
Into the Woods (Fairytale characters have to sort out their problems by going into the woods - however things don't turn out how they seem. Give it a chance - it isn't for children and the music is great) - 10
Les Miserables (tale of the French Revolution) - 9
Sweeney Todd (Sweeney Todd sorts out society by killing undesirables in his barbour shop, and making them into pies - very dark) - 9
Musical Films - West Side Story (A modern Romeo and Juliet, set in the 50's between two rival gangs) - 8
Little Shop of Horrors (A mysterious plant appears which only geeky Seymour can keep alive - through feeding it blood - funny, a bit soppy at times) - 7
Phantom of the Opera (Andrew Lloyd Webber's average musical made into a film. Some people like it apparently, it's good if you're not a musician) - 5
PLEASE don't watch High School Musical (which rates 0)- if you want proper music then go for anything else!

the original Dr. Doolittle...Dr. Doolittle sets off in a giant sea snail to find a magical floating island with the help of all his animal compadres (and a few believing humans) and then flies off into the moonlight on a giant Luna moth...great cast, great songs, great story, fun for the whole family. I grew up on this movie and now my grandchildren are...much better than the newer Eddie Murphy versions *gag* The original is a 10+, 5 stars, 2 thumbs up all the way!
