Church Counseling is OK if you and your partner hold similar religious values and the counseling "issue" is based in the religion issue. Otherwise I would stick to a good Marriage and family therapist.. The training an LMHP goes through is often different then the church counseling people and it more in line with How to live daily lives.
The religious counselors I've known tend to opt for the God only solution, mind God is important in my life, but the answer people seek are grounded in how do I get along with this PERSON.

easily, I do exactly no longer think of churches, pastors, ministers, and so on. have all that lots adventure with afflicted marriages. somebody especially knowledgeable in working via relationships could be a extra powerful counselor. i'm specific your church could advise ok, yet they could concentration on Biblical regulations and not get all the way down to the beef of your issues. It basically isn't their activity, nor what they're knowledgeable to do. i think of you have extra powerful success with a expert counselor. It does not harm to get a sprint help out of your church besides, however.

My husband and I are both religious, but when it comes to counseling, I would prefer a professional marriage counselor. In my opinion, this type of counselor could offer very unbiased opinions without letting religious overtones cloud their judgement.

get whatever type of counseling you can mutually agree with your spouse on. it sounds like you could go either way or you wouldn't ge asking the question so se what she prefers. if you can both feel confident enough in the answers to follow the recommendations it will mean a better chance of speedy results

Get a professional. Is there a professional counselor IN YOUR church? If so, go for it. Otherwise let the church do what they are suppose to do, solicit for money and pray.
