I have no idea how I came to block my password but nothing will allow me to get it working again, all I get now is a small pad lock in the top left hand corner with a diagonal line running through it. Help !!!

You could try this. When you boot up your laptop, does it show a 7 digit number in the upper left screen? If so, use the digits only, to
enter in as your password. This sometimes works. On my 600E, I use 9990305.
If that doesn't work, then go to your memory compartment. If you have a small "coin like" battery, that is your CMOS battery. You may be lucky, if you remove it, for a few minutes. This should clear the CMOS memory of the "start-up" password.
