Everyday that I am at work my boss uses all kinds of dergatory names to call me. He says hey you black n get your black n**** a** over here. He has said this and much more infront of other employees. My co workers say that this is just a part of the job and that there is nothing that can be done about it. I have asked my boss not to call me by these names but he just says that if I don't like it I need to quit. I don't know what I should do. I love my office job but I don't appreciate the names that go along with it. I don't appreciate being called all kinds of n***** and b*****. What can I do to stop this kind of language??

By no means is this acceptable and for your co-workers to say that is apart of the job is so much B.S. its ridiculous you should report him to your Human resources dept. if not the EEOC he is the one that needs to quit or be fired one you should never no one to disrespect you on any level any where. The first time he said it you shouldnt have taken it. STAND up for your self. because he cant fire you if you do your job are on time rarely absent etc and if he does without basis the company can be sued tell him that. But like other posts you should also get a lawyer because more than likely its gonna come down to some he/she say stuff....You shouldnt feel uncomfortable at your job and/or be forced out.

No he should not be allowed to use that kind of language against you. It's a law. Your boss has a supervisor and you can report it to him. Make sure you document everything: day/date/time. I think there is a thing called Human Relations as well. But nobody needs to use that kind of language towards another person. Report this boss asap. Merry Christmas. Keith

No, that is not allowed. In fact, that is likely to be racial discrimination and/or harassment. Your boss can be in a huge amount of legal trouble for it, and you should let him know that. He would have to pay you compensation if it is proved that he has been speaking to you like that. Perhaps just telling him that may scare him into stopping. If not, go to an employment lawyer and see what they can do for you. I'm sure it will be a lot.

Your boss is breaking the law. If you confront him and tell him to stop, retribution is also against the law. Tell him you don't like this behavior and you expect to be respected. If he doesn't stop you can get a lawyer or go th the federal equal opportunity office. I hope you will be better than he is and do this non violent as Dr. Martin Luther King would expect. Good luck.

Piss in his or Her coffee!
Seriously you need to contact a lawyer and find out what the EEO agreement was that you signed and you should surely have the last laugh. A lawyer will take this case with no up front cost because this can make both of you a lot of money

You've got to be kidding me. He really says this to you!? In that case, this man has no right to be in a position of responsibility. If I were you, I might consider a lawsuit.

No offense, but I almost don't believe you, because I can't imagine anyone getting away with such nasty racism in this day and age- if it's true, then I'm really sorry, and get a lawyer, or a new job.

I think you should first get a voice activate recorder and tape what he is calling you.Next seek someone higher up than him and tell them. That is abuse.Next even though you talked to a supervisor I think you should get advice of a lawyer.Try contact your local e.s.d. office or legal aide.If you file suit he will change or he will be terminated. You don't deserve that.Merry Christmas.I am sorry.

Don't do anything until you speak to a labour lawyer. If what you say is true it is probably illegal (don't know where you live) I know that kind of behavior is illegal in both Canada and the United States. In both these countries - if you bring action of this type to court - they can't fire you - the courts protect you and your job.

NO WAY! He needs to be reported. What you can do to stop it is report him to the Labor Board, the NAACP....and anybody else you can think of. You are being harassed and being treated unfairly to say the least. YOu are totally in the right and he can not have any repercussions on you for reporting him.

You sound like a very intelligent person,But your question sounds like a magazine from the 20'.
I don't care if hes the same color as you or purple ,You cannot get fired because you don't feel like getting treated like a doormat.
Cotton fields days are over ,stand up Girl ,And tell him that's it ,no more ,or I'm going to REPORT you .
