What kind of bird is this?
It was found in central California.

i did some research and i believe it is a female American goldfinch in its winter plumage, they are also found throughout the U.S. as well, here is the link where i found the information:http://www.birds.cornell.edu/bow/amgo/ hope this helps you!

I believe it is a male American Goldfinch in its winter colors.
