I'm not 'showing' -- I expect it's a bit of weight gain with added bloating, constipation, gas; the whole miasma of -- well, anyway.

But if this is normal, what on earth do people do in what's looking to be a few months between normal clothes fitting and maternity clothes looking like the right thing?

Just wear what is comfortable and don't worry about it. You could always go to the consignment shop and buy a few outfits in the next size up.

I wasn't comfortable in anything BUT maternity because of all the bloating and gas. The great thing about maternity wear is that it is stretchy. So some of the stuff will fit you now AND later on because of how much it stretches.

PS - Look at tlc.com on What Not to Wear's website. They did a couple of shows on pregnant women that might help you! Have fun!!!

Some people just need maternity clothes earlier than others. I'd say when your normal clothes are too tight, move to maternity. There are plenty of pants that don't have the "pregnancy pouch" and look like normal pants. They just have elastic in the back. I wore my maternity pants for a while after my pregnancy and no one knew they were maternity pants.

Check your local maternity sections or maternity specialty store.

That's what happened to me too. Funny thing is, when I went to my doctors visit 3 weeks later (at week 11) I had actually lost 3 pounds.

Anyway, I bought the Bella Band which allows me to wear some of my favorite pants still. You can just have your pants unbuttoned and put the band over it. Also, were I live we have a Motherhood Maternity Outlet store. My husband picked me up some cute pants there. The Jeans were $17 and super comfy. Best of luck to you!

I am 13 weeks pregnant & my pants began to get tight around 8 weeks also. I went to Kohl's & bought maternity pants with elastic waists that will stretch along with my belly. I also got a couple pair that have zip up sides that have expanders in them - so you can adjust them as you go. I started wearing the maternity pants right away - they are super cute & most importantly -- Comfortable!!!

lol, I just asked a question like this the other day, but I'm only 6 weeks. I have been trying to tough it out, I hate how tight my pants are now, because my job requires a lot of sitting. I suggest looping a rubber band through your button hole and button. Wear a shirt long enough to cover.

there are things called Bella bands that allow you to keep your pants unbuttoned. Depending on the maternity pants you can start wearing them now. There are a couple of different styles of pant waists.

yes... it's the miasma of child bearing. though you should consider yourself lucky to be able to do this. going through labor is terrible, but the feeling you have when you hold that tiny creature in your hands... i can only imagine.. :">
as for the clothestry some loose pulovers(wool) and stretchy pants. you can also find really nice dresses that you'll be able to wear after labor. hope i helped. congrats!:P

Just unzip your pants and wear a longer shirt. It is normal for some to start showing a little this early. Congratulations!

i just bought reg. cheap clothes a bigger size or two. They may not always fit the way you want but you grow into them,. get stretchy stuff, adjustable waists, buy small maternity clothes.
