It's sort of an interesting cultural phenomenon. I thought about it after the whole Janet Jackson frenzy. Americans have made the body into this morally shocking thing. I think its out of a fear of our own responses to the nudity. as in, we feel guilty for any instinctual reaction we have to it. Where as hearing about someone else doing drugs doesn't have the same impact. It's pretty absurd.

I have to agree with you, even though pagents are so sexist and cheesy. At least the one redeeming aspect was the winner was supposed to be a "role model" who used her squeaky clean image to promote some good cause. Now it's been reduced to merely a sleazy T and A show.
