What the hay is a figure of speech, it means like, "why not" when people use what the hay, they are like saying, why not, what can it hurt. why they use the word hay, I dont know that, but i hope this helps you understand a little better. ps i dosnt mean what the hack cuz if some one though a can across the room would you say, " WHAT THE HAY"
but if you were asked to join some one in a movie, you would simply say, " What the hay"
as in: "Hey would you like to join me at the movies?" your respond could be.
"Why, not i got nothing better to do."
as in a term of "what the hay"
Now i hope this add on shows you a little bit further in the subject!
