I've always wondered if you can transfer your units to a regular university.

If the university is a regionally accredited, you should be able to transfer the credits you get from that school. If you already know what school you want to transfer them to, check with them and find out if they will accept the credits.

Yes, if it's accredited then you can transfer credits. You can do this with ITT Tech and with U of Phoenix and probably others.
