my family (girl-15, boy-22, boy-25, mom and dad) is going on a big vacation over the summer.. we have narrowed it down to : Dominican Republic, Costa Rica, Hawaii, and Belize... who has been to any of these places??...your thoughts?..

my brothers like to scubadive..
we would like some nice restaurants and a little shopping would be nice(although we don't want to shop very much).. we would love a beautiful beach... and lots of things to do to keep us active

also... the first guy says that hawaii is very family friendly but is it still good for an older family.. the youngest member is 15 yrs old.. and also... it may just be too touristy??

I've been to the DR ... definitely DON'T recommend that for families. Navigating the airport is treacherous enough. The casinos and street vendors make it unappealing for a family trip.
I live in Hawaii, and can say that it is one of the most family friendly places you can possibly visit.
Have never been to Costa Rica, but hear that it's nice. I have heard that Belize can be quite dangerous if you stray from the tourist areas.
Yes - there is something for everyone in Hawaii. Submarine rides, luaus, ATV excursions, hiking, canoeing, SCUBA, snorkling ... helicopter tours ... need I go on?

I don´t agree with the other guys... I´ve been to Costa Rica, Belize and Hawaii and although Hawaii is nice, is to "plastic" for me.
Costa Rica is friendly and has great beaches but the most beautiful, exotic and cheap is Belize. If you like scuba diving or snorkeling is the best place to go, and the hotels are cheap and nice. It´s a poor country but it´s safe--

i agree with kentata, although I've never been to DR. Belize can be dangerous, Costa Rica is very nice, but Hawaii is definitely the spot to go, it is expensive but it's got everything your family would want, spent 4 weeks on Maui and it was wonderful, the best place I've been to and I've been to over 40 different countries.

North Shore Kauai is my suggestion, nature, it's cool, surfing, swimming... We stayed at the Hanalei Colony Resort and loved it ... see below
