If you're shallow then they matter. If you look at a person from the inside, their personality and heart and they're kind, then both of those overshadow their looks and they become second or third in nature.

Looks disappear over time. What a person is like on the inside...doesn't.

i think it's because we are living a very shallow lifestyle here in the US. people have got the idea that beauty is all that matters. that is why old people who become feeble minded and are prisoners in wheel chairs are put away in nursing homes. i have lived overseas. the mayor of the town i was in was 80 years old. europeans have much more respect for older people. it's simple - the older folks have a ton of experience and knowledge than anyone can listen to and learn from. in my opinion, the rest of the world respects the elderly. so don't worry about looks. just be yourself and may the Lord bless you in whatever you do.

Its the first thing you notice about a person when you first meet them, initially (for most) looks are what attract you to a person. Then when you get to know them is when you realize if you like their personality or not.

-interesting fact: most people size a person down within the first ten seconds they meet them
(decided wether they like them or not)

Edna

if u walk across in the room and u ... unknown to me....

well then how u dress or how u carry ur self is what would make me interested in knowing u or not.....

well so in case of strangers meet . i wont deny looks matter

but with time in any place u might realize .... the lady who is beautiful cant have a sensible talk....... and the one whom u overlooked on the first day.... makes ur day brighter

1. I think because of the world we live in where the media makes a big thing about what celebrities wear, their house, their cars, their hair, you get the idea....that we (who are not celebrities and flashed over magazines and television) have to try and look like them so it makes us turn on each other i.e. "I don't want to take pictures with her because her eyebrows are not waxed." WTF? Who cares!

2. If you're referring to looks as in I'm only going to date/have sex/marry this person because their cute/fine/sexy/all that and a bag of chips.....I think it only matters to that person because they have something wrong with their character. They don't feel good about themselves so they need someone else to "feed" off of to make them feel better. AND they want to impress their friends "Ay dawg, yo woman lookin' mighty fine over there, you did that." or "Girl, Dante is so fine! Where you meet him at? I need to find me a man like dat!" What happend to just being with a man/woman because they are mature, will take care of you, be there for when you need a shoulder to cry on and love you for you?

Because an attractive healthy body gives the opposite sex instinctive natural tendencies to think if this person were to have my offspring we as a couple will also have attractive healthy offspring

The only "look" that really matters to me is whether someone looks neat and tries to take care of him/herself. That's the only part of an appearance that counts. None of us had anything to do with the way we look physically! (Well, unless we've been cosmetically "enhanced.")

Because if you can't stand the way the other person looks then how to expect to make a commited relationship to this person.

Because there always needs to be some kind of physical attraction. That's what draws us to people, and then we can begin to love who they are on the inside.
