6x+3y= -12
3x+y= -4
y=-4 - 3x
if you choose any x it will have exactly one y ! for example
x=1 so y =-4-3=-7

What is it you're asking? It's the equation for a line; the standard form is:
6x + 3y + 12 = 0.

I don't know what you want done with this. Did you forget the 2nd eqn? or

6x+3y= -12
6x=-12-3y
x=-y/2-2

or
3y=-6x-12
y=-2x-4

2006-12-22 14:52:50 · answer #3 · answered by mu_do_in 3 · 3 0

Subtract 6x from both sides:
3y=-6x-12

Divide 3 from both sides:
y=-2x-4

I hope that's what you wanted to know!

This is the equation of a line. There are an infinite number of points that make up the line, therefore there are an infinite number of solutions to the equation.
