We never have a lot of money, but we do have the tradition of making a pot of black-eyed peas (for luck) and cabbage (for money). Supposedly, if you eat these two things on the 1st day of the year it will help you to have money and luck throughout the year. The main thing is to enjoy your friends and family on this day. One year my husband, my brother, and myself made cookies, ate chips and dips, had soda and egg nog, and released balloons at midnight. We wrote our secret wishes or prayers to God and attached them to the balloons. We also played games and just hung out. It was the best New Years I ever had. A couple of weeks later, I found out I was pregnant. And that was my secret wish. I had a hard time getting pregnant and for it to finally happen was dream come true.

If your daring and have only a few dollars, everclear is definetely your only chance of a fun celebration. Watch out for the blindness however

stay home get ur friends over, everyone gets some food and soem alcohol, and all share
prepare good music, some games tv dvd anything
and soem beds in case anyone wants to sleep over
