Although one is dual core & the other is not they remain almost neck to neck in most benchmarks.
That said, I would consider the upgrade options offered by the mainboards that accomodate these CPUs.
If I HAD TO choose between one of these I would go for the AMD But only if it's mainboard has an AM2 socket (many do) as opposed to the 939 socket.
The AM2 socket will accodate not only any AMD dual core CPU but also the upcoming Quad Core CPUs once they hit the market.
It will save you money should you wish to take that route in a year or so....all you will need to do is replace the CPU to have a complete quad-core system.
On the Intel based unit you will need an new mainboard as well.
FYI (if it is possible....go for an AMDX2 4600+ or higher on an AM2 socket ...not that much more expensive but way more powerful .... just a suggestion)

It all depends what you use your computer for. Both systems are fast and the duo core is really good if you do several high CPU use programs at once, most people do not do that - if you play certain games the duo will be better and then for others the AMD will be faster.
Make an honest list of things you do on your computer and how much multi-tasking you do with high usage programs and then talk to someone you trust at the store and make your decision.

either one is a great choice, but before buying between the two,
do a little research. I myself am running the intel celeron aswell as the AMD Athlon, plus it is not about which one runs better, it's about how your system will thank you once you upgrade to a faster speeeeeeed!!!! but remember onething, (With Speed Comes Great Responsability) be mindful of mem-moduals aswell. proper heatsink and fan. without them, it would'nt matter which one is better.

don't. it show that the FSB is 533, that to slow. since you are getting a dual core, make sure you get a 1066FSB. you won't be sorry,

You'll love this.
http://www23.tomshardware.com/cpu.html
Pick your first CPU, then pick your comparison CPU, and then pick the program(s) you use frequently, and it'll tell you real world stats for how they perform on each.
Easily the best way to compare.
Enjoy, and good luck!
