I live in a smaller town, about 8,000 people. Houghton, Mi, and I'd like to start a career in broadcasting, but I'm not sure where to start. I'm young, but already have started a career in business, but this isn't what I really want to do. There are two local radio stations in the town I live in, but I've never seen any jobs posted. I'd like any suggestions that anyone has.

Here's a good article. It discusses doing demo CDs and things. It also says that jobs are normally advertised in the (radio) trade press.

It says that one way in is via a sales and admin job. Once you work there, you can find out about any better jobs that are going.

You might start by working for an internet radio station. That would give you access to thousands more employers than just the 2 stations in your home town.

Doing a google search for "job in radio" in double-quotes turned up a lot of links.
