He is alive......but honestly he can't swim. Some say his air pocket is not working properly they also say he has a disease. But I have had him for about a year now and he is doing fine. He eats and does everything normal fish do, but can't swim to the bottom of the tank and he just floats on his side. Please help!

It sounds like possible swim bladder disease.. Maybe he might just be bloated.. That happened to mine, I overfed him on sweet peas and he floated at the top for a few days.. I didn't feed him for about 3 days then gave him some flakes and he finally got back to normal..

I have 2 Betta boys of my own and I use this site for good reference, It's 110% dedicated just for Betta's and their care, everything about them. :)

Check out about diseases and anything else you want to know.. this site is very good for betta questions.. I would keep some emergency medications on hand as well.. So, if in the future some illness comes up you will have what you need on hand.. aquarium salt, etc.

swim bladder disorder. you're right, he's fine. however you can make him better by not feeding him for up to 3 days. then on the third day give him a bit of the inside of a thawed frozen pea. he's most likely constipated and the pea will help clear hi out. thaw the pea by soaking it in warm water or boiling it in plain water. take the shell off and give a small betta bite sized piece. not soaking the pea first will leave air in the oea and make his condition worse. so make sure your soak it well.

however, even if he doesn't get better he'll be fine and can live a mostly normal life.

my mom's betta does this. To me, it seems like the older they get, the less they do. I got a desklight for my beta's tank, since they are considerd tropical, and he always swims. My mom tried this because her betta never moved either and would just lay on his side, and now he is more active too.

i might for my area feed on a daily basis, somewhat than each and every 3. As different customers have reported, we ought to understand tank length and despite in case you have a heater and a filter out. In tanks with no filter out, you ought to do on a regular basis or each and every 2nd day water alterations. With a filter out, a pair of times a week is sufficient. Bettas are tropical and choose warmers, or they are going to finally provide up eating and grow to be fairly torpid. they choose temps of approximately 80 F. Bettas additionally must be saved in tanks of a minimum of two.5 gallons. they are no longer super energetic, it quite is actual, yet they nonetheless appreciate swimming and can receive the gap to locate and function exciting. opposite to often happening myths, they do no longer stay in puddles interior the wild and can receive a good volume of area. come again to us on tank length and gadgets and we will help you in spite of the shown fact that we are able to. :)
