I think like is like novel. Events happen so that you reach a climax where everything stands against the protagonist (supposedly you), then it is resolved so you reach your, hopfully, happy ending.

depends on how you look at it. life, meaning natural life follows a flow. it is us (humans) who disrupt nature. if you see us as life then yes, it can.
