What kind of medications are we talking about here?? I would be very careful about taking anything over the counter without the expressed approval of your obgyn. Your doctor should be able to provide you with a list of otc medications that you are safe to take during pregnancy to aid some of the most common ailments:
colds, pains, hemorroids, constipation, heartburn, etc.
But always chek with your doctor before taking anything at all, no matter what anyone says, because a lot of things also depend on your general state of health.

Yes, tylenol, gas-x, some stool softeners, certain antibiotics, some topical acne treatments, and only a handful of allergy medications are safe to take during pregnancy. It is best to check with your ob/gyn before taking anything. Some ob's are more conservative than others while others may broaden the types of meds they'll allow you to take.

i wouldn't take anything unless you must with a doctors advice. when i was pg, i was allowed to take tylenol but only did about 5 times from 4 months on. the last few weeks i had indigestion so bad i was allowed to take Zantac RX. there are different "classes" of drugs and studies on how they can be used in pg, i know my dr said he wouldn't allow anything above a class two drug. they actually had lists of what you can and can't take, so i would check wtih an ob doctor.

Talk to your OB/GYN about any medications that you are considering taking. Do not take the advice of people on this board! You need to take your health and the health of your baby in to consideration.
