Sounds pretty easy especially if she is your best friend. Simply sit down with the boss and exlain that you are giving your notice as you will no longer be an employee. Certainly she can seperate friendship from employee relatioships and as such will not be offended. Give her a reason if you can and if not then just be honest and lay out all the cards. Best of luck.
