I would say most AWD vehicles you are going to have a hard time to smoke the tires.
In newer AWD vehicles you would have to somehow disable the ESP - (Electronic Stabilty Control Program) as the ESP will detune the motor by dropping the RPM's, decrease the power to the drive wheels, as well apply the brakes to the spinning wheels. The computer will think the spinning wheels means your car is exceeding the limits of the vehicle and to help maintain control of the vehicle the computer will kick in the ESP.

Depending on the vehicle, it may be possible. Most AWD is not a true 50/50 split. Most is 40/60 Front to rear or visa versa. Additionally, some systems are intelligent enough to transfer power from the slipping wheels to the gripping wheels, if this is the case with you, chances are slim.

Depends on the vehicle. Something like an STI or Evolution, sure. A Saturn Vue 4cyl AWD? Not much of a chance, on dry pavement. All depends on power and conditions. You can do a burnout in a Yaris if conditions are right.

You can smoke your tires even without AWD.
(Wow! Can I get high from smoking tires? Are there warning labels on packs of tires?)

Why would you want to? Got a pocket full of money and want to wear out the tires on it so you buy a new set as quickly as possible?

without blowing up the diff, or dropping the tranny. this is not a smart thing to try with all wheel drive. but if you want to burn off some rubber, try alot of drifting.

If you rev it up and then dump the clutch, probably. With an automatic, maybe not, as you'd have too much grip.
