Yes I have experienced that unfortunately! My ex husband, who you will soon understand why he became an "ex", would wait until the day after Christmas, because of sales. Every Valentines Day, I got a box of candy the day after, because they are usually 50% off. What a jerk huh? Oh well, that is the past, but a funny memory just the same. Merry Christmas!

I have always had huge Christmas(s). When I was about 8, my parents were getting divorced and I only got a very, very small bottle of roll on perfume for Christmas. This broke my and my siblings heart as we were going through a very difficult time and Christmas was the only thing positive at that time. I really that presents are not the "true" meaning of Christmas....but I was crushed. I always remind my kids about the real meaning of Christmas and we all pitch in to give a gift to someone who wouldnt get one , other wise. Christmas is a time to be thankful for Christ and to realize how lucky we are to live in a great society.

Materialistically, yes I have gone a couple of years without getting a gift. By I get a gift every year of being able to look back and say that I served my Lord to the best of my abilities and He has rewarded me for doing the what I could during that part in my life and hopefully by the next Christmas I can look back and recognize all of the gifts...i.e. BLESSINGS...the Lord gave for that year. That is what Christmas is about. It is not about seeing how broke you can become trying to give your kids that which you really cant afford just so they can feel special. Teach them the true meaning first, and then give them gifts, but dont make them think it is all about high dollar things.

I haven't celebrated Xmas for 11 years now. My man usually goes to see his mother for Xmas (in another state), but he'll be here this year, so I'm making an effort for him. My first husband used to buy me things he wanted. Does that count?

Yep my son gets a big nothing from practically all of my inlaws expect for his great grandparents. Its not that they can't afford it or think that Christmas is not about presents and it too commercialized, it is because they could careless and dthey don't even bother to send a card or pick up the phone to wish him a Merry Christmas

yes. I requested it to be that way resently. I don't want anything because I would feel I have to get them a gift in return but have not had the money to do it. so last year no gifts to me and no gilty fealing on my part to not give gifts after recieving them.

The year I turned 7 we were broke and gave each other coupons to redeem when we wanted! I am thankful that we had gifts every year after that.
