If you are looking for a phrase for a formal announcement, "[parent] and [parent] are happy [or pleased or overjoyed] to announce the birth of their daughter [name] on [date]" often followed by information about the baby, is often used. If you are religious, you may want to say that you have been "blessed with" a daughter and then give information about her.

Less formally, you can buy or make cards that say "It's a girl!" on the outside and give information like the baby's name, date and time of birth, birth weight and length, parents' (and sometimes siblings') names on the inside. A picture of the baby is often included.

A tradition I've heard about but never actually seen is that the new father passes out cigars to his friends.

Some people hang a sign like "It's a girl!" outside their homes.

If people sometimes think your daughter is a boy ("How old is he?"), try putting a bow in her hair or answering "SHE is two months old."

I have been blessed with a beautiful daughter, a flower to take care of in the garden of life, one that will someday flourish to a beautiful woman. A daughter that brings joy to my heart, another being that stole my heart with her beautiful smile... I have a Daughter!!!

I don't know of any actual phrase.

Just start referring to the baby as "her" and "she", and see if your friends pick it up.
