Birds of a feather........
In a world where the almighty dollar is king (do you really believe that we live in a democratic society? We live in a capitalistic society) there are many unscrupulous people who will do what ever it takes to get ahead for the love of money. Of course Pete Rose supports McGwire, it's a seemingly justification of in Pete's mind that two wrongs can make a right. ie if McGwire makes it then so will he

Ozgard, there are few of us who really understand the meaning of cheating. Some people in here always try to justify the things they do. Great example was T.O. last week trying to justify why he spit on someone. The fact is he did something so degrading to another person, there is no excuse for what he did.
Mark McGwire knowingly took preforming enhancing drugs to gain an unfair advantage over his peers. HE CHEATED! There is no excuse. Pete Rose is only trying to change the playing field in his favor. If he can lobby for McGwire entry into the Hall it might help his cause. At lease in his mind.
The problem with Pete Rose is that he is old news and people don't care about him anymore. He is not a very good person and he broke the cardinal sin of baseball and then lied about it. HE'S A LIER!
Other people have to stop making excuses for both of these guys. Take the chemically enhanced home runs away from McGwire and what do you have? A below average major league baseball player. I don't care what uniform they ware, if they cheated or gambled or lied they should never be allowed into the hall. I rest my case!

I never disliked Rose. I thought he should be in the HoF. Everyone knows Jordan had his personal struggles. It wouldn't change my opinion at all. I know it is just as bad as cheating if it effected his play (well, it is cheating at that point), but there is a major difference between Barry Bonds and Michael Jordan. Jordan was endearing. Despite being a gambling adulterer who should have been a media trainwreck, he was always loved by fans, and parents were fine with their kids looking up to him. Barry is a sour, bitter player who thinks he is entitled to mroe than others. That is why when he cheats, it seems like it is out of dishonesty and personal gain, whille with MJ it's just Jordan being Jordan. I know that is a dumb ansewr, and it is excusing cheating as long as you come off as a good guy, but just imagine if Barry Bonds had gotten into these allegations but had the track record of someone like Tony Gwynn. Everytime I hear Tony Gwynn talk, he seems humble and on all accounts deserving of everything he has from hard work. If Barry had that sort of pulicity before BALCO, he'd have survived as a fan favorite regardless.

The catch to all of the McGwire talk is that the drugs he used WERE NOT ILLEGAL in MLB OR in the United States at the time. That being the case, his taking Andro was no different than a pitcher taking some No-Doz to stay awake after a long evening out.

Pete craves being in the public eye and was feeling lonely because NO ONE gives a F*** about him any more. Pete and McGwire belong in the Hall of SHAME for their actions.
PS. It's the outhouse behind the Hall of Fame!

He will most likely think of taking McGwire + 120 votes spread and bet the house on him making the hall...
I miss the old Pete... Charlie Hustle

That is the dumbest thing I have ever heard. He shouldn't even say anything about the subject of cheating or breaking rules. Seriously come on. He blatently broke the rules he is trying to get reinstated into baseball and this isn't helping him at all.

I personally think that Pete should get into the hall of fame, however i find his current speeches absolutly hilarious. He should just shut up, this is the only way that he will ever get into the hall of fame. I find it extremely ironic that now Pete is backing other people that broke rules, however it is fitting since they both were rule breakers. At least Pete didn't cheat.
By the way I hate McGwire

Pete Rose is banned from baseball. He has to make money somehow, right? By saying crazy things, he attracts attention to himself. Why do you think he wrote that book a few years ago? For attention and for money.

Yeah I thought that was ridiculous too.
But he has a motive - Pete wants people to get in that have not played by the rules... at some point in the future, he figures he'll be able to get in because all these other people are there
The motive is plain as day.
By the way, I love your avatar - Yankees in 2007!!!
