When is it ever a right time to tell your children you have lied to them all those years? It's not going to be easy to get your kids to trust you after you've lied to them.

But there is a santa. It may not be a person that comes down your chimmeny, but it's a feeling- a spirit. Don't tell your kids there's no santa. They will find out on their own. Then they will come to you and say, "there's no santa", and it opens room for a conversation about the real meaning of christmas. I am 50 years old, and every christmas, I read the story of "yes virginia, there is a santa claus" to my children and my grandchildren. Of course there is a santa claus. He is in each and every one of us all thru the holiday season. He should be with us all year 'round.

Well.......my parents didn't even tell me about santa untill I was six......that year I found out on my own when I saw them wrapping the gifts from "santa". I honestly think parents shouldn't tell their kids this. I mean, you teach them not to lie, but then you lie to them?(no offense) Plus, santa takes away from the true meaning. The birth of Jesus. Tell them as soon as posible. Maybe before this Christmas. Instead of telling stories of Santa, you can tell them stories of Jesus!
Merry Christmas!

I dont think that you should let them believe it in the beginning. I am pregnant now and I do not plan on letting my daughter believe in the whole santa and reindeer drama. She will know the true meaning behind it even when she's young because she's going to grow up in the church. Sooo if they do believe in it, i think u should tell them now regardless of how old they are.

There is NO right time. I still BELIEVE and I am 53 yrs old......Santa is "magical" and it is within your heart you BELIEVE and why take that away from a child? Go to jinglegrams.com or northpole.com and you will be able to find answers for your own self too. Merry Christmas

Don't tell them in the first place. When you finally tell them there is no Santa, imagine how they will feel knowing that you lied to them. It will be harder for them to gain their trust after you tell them.

I wouldn't tell them unless they ask. Kids usually find out at school of from their friends.
