First it depends on your injury, but swimming is great because you naturally float in the water, so you don't strain yourself as much, but water is also a natural resistor when doing exercise so it builds muscles without straining. Because there is no pressure being put on you like if you were to use a weight machine. Plus, swimming targets pretty much every major muscle in your body.

the water acts like a support for ur whole body because ur basically weightless. but it still provides great cardio and developes muscular strength.
