Well, if she doesn't pay who do you think is responsible? One guess......that's right she is responsible.

Simple, she can't be held liable since she was 17 when she signed the contract. If the landlord decides to take her to court, she can basically state that she was 17 when she signed the lease, and the judge will throw the case out of court. However if she had a co-signer such as a parent, then the parent would be responsible for the damages.

A person under 18 cannot agree to debt nor can collection action be taken agaist them. Thier legal guardian or Co-signer on the other hand most certainly can.

they allowed her to take out the loans because 17 yr old can take out loan for school financial aid purposes. Normally you must be 18 for a valid contract, but not in this case.

If her parents co-signed, they could try to go after them.

if she was emancipated then yes as she would be considered responsilbe for herself in the eyes of the law. If not then no as a minor can not enter into a legal binding contract with out a parent.

Her parents usually have to co-sign such loans if she is underage. Community college is very inexpensive. Pay back the loan.
