I'm looking to locate some lost savings bonds and am wondering where I can go to research and locate them.
Can it be done by someone's social security number? what are the options?

Write to the issuer explaining the circumstances and ask for a Lost Bond Indemnity Form to get a replacement. There may be a small charge for this.

Two suggestions:

If you're near a bank, stop in and ask to speak to the savings bond expert. Explain to him or her what you've done and you can get a form to request a replacement.

If you'd rather, you may go to the Dept of Treasury's offiical Web site: www.savingsbonds.gov and learn more as well.
