Well when your mom and dad, Grandma and Grandpa and Aunt and Uncle got married they were not related by blood. Each woman had a different maiden name and comes from a family outside of their immediate one.

You cannot marry within your immediate family and depending on the state up to your 5th or 6th cousin.

The reason for this is genetic diversity. This means if too many people marry within there smaller circle of family the genetic makeup makes your offspring weak. Therefore a couple of generations down the line the children will not fully develop and will have psychical and mental disabilities.

As a race we need to have a far enough away bloodline to produce children who will be healthy.

The only time it would be conceivable is if the population of the world was reduced to a handful of people.

Are you saying your parents, your uncle/aunt, and your grandparents were siblings before they got married? If that's so, then you may have a point. If you're like everyone else, they became your parents, grandparents, and uncle/aunt after they got married. The same way you don't marry your husband ~ you marry a guy that later becomes your husband through that marriage !!!!

No! You do not want to marry someone whose genes are too close to your own, that would include siblings, parents, children, aunts, uncles and first cousins. The reason is that there is a greatly increased risk of genetic defects. Your parents and grandparents and aunts and uncles all came from different families, presumably. They are only related by marriage, not by blood.

Okay you need help you mother and father are no related in anyway, same goes for the rest of the people you are talking about. When your dads brother marrys a woman they are thought of as your aunt this doesn't mean they are related got it?

WOW! Your out there! It is against the law to marry your siblings...maybe you should check a little further back in your ancestory....bet you'd find that your parents weren't related before they were married...and they still are not "related" they are married! Married is not a relative term!~

Umm your mom and dad weren't related before they got married, as weren't your unlce and aunt and grandfather and grandmother...definitely NOT the same as marrying a sibling.

Okay, people marry someone else because they ''love'' that person, and they are ready to share their life with each other, so basically--I'm not sure if you can--I don't think anyone, even if they were totally nuts, would do that. Besides I read somewhere, that marring someone related to you makes a kind of sickness.

When your family members married, they weren't related. You're related to them because they're married now. You can't marry your siblings because its incest and causes all sorts of genetic problems. Thats why.
