wow you are really mean. it's a celebration of Jesus Christ's birth and thats really rude to say that you hate christmas, thats basically saying you hate Jesus. Christmas is the best holiday ever and i love it.

To be perfectly honest, I too find Christmas to be many things, none of which are very pleasant. I agree the it is "overrated" as you put it, but that is certainly no reason to hate it. No, I hate christmas for personal reasons. Situations are not what you make of them, they are what they are. It's how you remember them that you can control. If my hatred for christmas could be alleviated by simply putting an attractive spin on some terrible memories, then surely it would have been done by now. But sadly, those memories continue into the present day and have become the reason I dread this holiday above all other holidays. In addition, to reflect a little more on the OP said, the constant push of (what many feel is) false happiness and "hoilday spirit" is as strong and potentially dangerous to christmas dissidents as the push of crack cocaine in society's urban centers. Perhaps the key should be to allow each of us our own opinion and when one crosses someone who 'hates' christmas, show them through word and deed why YOU love it. ACTUALLY share the christmas spirit instead of telling them they should posses it. I believe that there are very few people who truly enjoy christmas. They enjoy the feeling they get on christmas morning, the taste of the turkey or goose in their mouth, and the warm embrace of relatives from afar. And there is nothing wrong with that. It just isn't christmas. For those who believe, christmas is something completly different which i shan't discuss for I am not a believer myself. Regardless, the things people call christmas are what make up christmas spirit and festivities. Share those with people who hate this holiday and change their mind that way.

I don't hate Christmas, but it is the most stressful time of the year especially if you dont come from a rich family, i hate how my parents are on Xmas because they just rush around stressed out trying to get things done, instead of enjoying the time, free presents are good, but everything cost so much nowadays and they make it seem like you need to buy everyone the best most expensive gift, and the no school and good food is the best part, i think Halloween is a way better holiday.

I agree with your correspondent "Elizabeth," 'hate' is an awfully strong word, but as I said in answering another question, Easter is more meaningful to me because it is one of the foundational events of the whole Christian religion. If you don't have Easter you can't have Christmas. To answer your question, I don't hate Christmas, I just don't get very much out of it and I'm always glad when it's over.

Please stop being such a bah humbug.
You ruin the Christmas spirit for people who still believe in the magic and the joy of looking at little kids faces when they open that present. That alone, is worth Christmas to me.
And, if you think Christmas is overrated, your just like the Grinch. An old person who was just jealous of Christmas because Christmas got more attention than you did.

Jesus is the very reason for this holiday.-it is up to you to make it about Him. Of course the department stores turn it into what they want. But when you are at home surrounded by what truly matters- no ad can compare. Celebrate- He is what is important!
