They're "normal", for SOME women, especially younger ones. However, if it persists and the clots are really large (like yours) AND you have excessive flow, then you should be seen by a Dr. You could be experiencing a miscarriage and even hemorrhage, even from a period alone.

Your gynecologist can put you on medication to limit this, and there are some meds that ARE NOT the same as the Pill. If you're sexually active, you may WANT the Pill, however!

P.S.: If you're NOT seeking medical treatment, due to fear that they'll tell your parents, remember that in most states, they CANNOT tell the, by law (if they receive federal funding)! Ask the Dr.'s about this when you see them!

Eight days after delivery it is normal to still be bleeding quite a bit however, it isn't normal for the bleeding to slow way down and then kick way back up again. If you are really active then it can cause you to start bleeding, but it shouldn't be a lot and it shouldn't be persistent. If you are passing large clots, then you should definitely go see the doctor, and don't wait about it. Excessive bleeding, often called hemorrhaging is a very serious condition that can lead to anemia and in very extreme cases, can even result in the need for a blood transfusion or death. Any bleeding that is heavier then one of your "heavy" periods after the first couple of days post-partum or any large clots, like the one you described, is a good reason to go see a doctor. If the bleeding really worries you, is heavy and persistent, or YOU pass any really large clots, it's OK to go to the ER if your doctor isn't close by or isn't available. No matter what, it would be a good idea for you to make an appointment--it's better safe then sorry I always say. :)

Nuh-uh! Call a doc or go to a clinic or the ER. I have heavy periods, and very small (dime-sized or smaller) clots OCCASIONALLY are normal, but "palm-sized" ones are not.

At best, you probably would need to be on an iron supplement during a particularly heavy flow like that. At worst, you could have a serious problem causing hemorrage, and it takes a very short time for something like that to wear you down completely. I had an incident last year when I didn't take much notice of an outrageously heavy period, and after a day and a half, I passed out and had to go to the ER.

WHOA! I promise you that's not good. My mom had blood clots, and they were the size of golf balls. It lasted geez... Like more than 2 weeks. She went to the hospital and they ended up doing a partial hysterectemy, (sorry if i spelled that wrong) I'm not saying this to scare you, but you REALLY need to get to the doctor SOON! Be calm, and I would recommend taking someone with you, if you are married, your husband.. if not.. your mom or something. So someone else hears what you are supposed to do, and someone there for support if its something bad. Good Luck.. and promise us you'll see a Doctor ASAP! Hope everything is well.

Anything bigger than a quarter is cause for concern.

Certainly clots the size of your palm should indicate a problem. You need to be seen by a doctor.

Whoa! Check if the blood is in light or dark colour. If it's dark, i won't worry much and hope that's just excess period. If light, you'd want to go to the Obgyn before you suffer internal bleeding.
Take care of your feminine healt & hygene PUHLEASE. Hope you're okay and get better soon.

Oh.. and be sure to take lots of supplements that increases blood volume. And eat egg! Drink milk! For God's sake go to the doctor!!!!

clots that size are not normal, I would call your OB/GYN ASAP! Small ones are okay, but I'm talking little, like smaller than a dime. I would diffenately make an appointment.
